Top Kitchen Countertop Trends

It seems that at one point in time, the only countertop people wanted was granite. That however, is changing these days; there are new trends when it comes to Gilbert countertops. Now there are more alternative materials to granite that are becoming a hit with homeowners who are looking to do a little remodeling to their kitchen.

If you are looking to remodel your kitchen and want to change the look of your Gilbert countertops, quartz might be the way to go. Quartz is a very hard and very durable countertop. Quartz is also a great choice for a Gilbert countertop because of its easy to clean surface, always glossy look, and wide range of colors that it comes in. The only downside to quartz is that it does not have a high tolerance for heat like granite does.

A countertop that is not really thought about often is soapstone. This is a great material that can go with almost any kitchen décor. Like other countertops this one will not stain if spilled on. Although these Gilbert countertops do have a little bit more tolerance for heat, they do require a little more maintaining, such as buffing and oiling the surface. One type of material becoming increasingly popular for a Gilbert countertop is concrete. Concrete countertops are very heavy, very durable and if sealed properly, these countertops are very tolerant to heat, as well as scratch resistant. However, there are some draw backs to a concrete countertop and that is, they are more susceptible to stains and damage from acids such as orange juice, lemon juice, and vinegar.

Other trending Gilbert countertops are glass, which is known for having the highest tolerance for heat and not staining, like other countertops. Glass countertops are very easy to clean; however they do show every finger print. Stainless steel and lava stone are other great choices for countertops. Stainless steel and lava stone are both nonporous making them easy to clean and maintain. However, just like the glass countertop, every finger print on the stainless steel countertop will show.
